Gypsum
Gypsum:
Gypsum (Chemically CaSO4.2 H2O) is a mineral found with sedimentary rocks and is widely used in the agriculture and construction industry.
Pakistan has estimated deposits of 5 to 6 billion tonnes of natural gypsum. Out of this, nearly 4.4 billion tonnes of high quality gypsum are reported to be on surface in Kohat/Karak region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In Pakistan it is mainly used in the agriculture sector for soil conditioning and cement industry for retardation of setting time of cement.
Large deposits of Gypsum in Pakistan make the condition suitable for using Gypsum to manufacture Plaster which is widely used in the construction industry due to it's fire resistant and insulating capabilities.
